Garema Place Upgrade
Currently in the works, the Garema Place Upgrade will involve meeting the city's growing needs, delivering infrastructure suitable for community gatherings, and supporting increased foot traffic from light rail and bus commuters.
This project builds on the upgrades to City Walk completed in 2020 – which will create a thriving central meeting place that drives economic activity in the City Centre.

As contractors, the upgrade presents unique challenges, particularly due to the high-traffic, high-profile location. We've adopted an innovative, bespoke approach to ensure seamless construction while working closely with 40+ retail businesses in the area.
Above ground, the work involves raised garden beds, bespoke seating and walls, significant planting areas, and new paved areas. Additionally, many of the beloved artworks will be restored and replaced, with enhanced seating, outdoor dining spaces, and improved lighting to create a safer, more inviting atmosphere in the evenings.
Below ground, substantial upgrades are being made to the infrastructure, including drainage and lighting improvements. These upgrades aim to enhance the functionality and longevity of this important public space.
