Hassett Park (Campbell 5 Precinct)

Ultimately becoming one of the most unique and finest public landscape areas in Canberra, the Hasset Park project came to fruition on behalf of the SLA and with design by Sydney Landscape Architecture firm, JILA.

Bespoke finishes, features and details encompass the atmosphere, providing beautiful aesthetics and functionality that seamlessly unify into a practical stormwater filtration system.

The central swale and pond form the main focal point for the park. In addition to providing visual appeal, they are critical to the ongoing success of the softworks within the park.

Exhibiting engineering ingenuity, the site’s water management system harnesses the natural cleansing power of water plants and filtration to purify stormwater.

Permanent ground water and that from surrounding roads are emptied into the swale and the pond. As water travels through the swale and its plantings, it is cleaned naturally by the water plants and geo textile fabric. Following this, clean water then overflows into storage tanks stored under the pedestrian bridge, allowing reuse in the irrigation system that enables water to be continually recycled across the site.
