“Congratulations to Anthony O’Brien and Simon Frowd of Ram Constructions for their work in overseeing the construction of the Pavilion to house the Canberra Rotary Peace Bell. From the outset both Anthony and Simon approached this community project with a most positive and enthusiastic attitude. The work was completed with attention to detail, it was on time and on budget.
Working with the Architect Fred Kasparek and Landscape designer David Telfer from Redbox Designs the finished pavilion and surrounds looks outstanding and beautifully connects now to the original Lennox Gardens.
Based on the response that I have had from those people enjoying the Peace Park and taking the time to ring the Canberra Rotary Peace Bell we can say that this animated monument is already a real benefit to our city. At these difficult times it is important to take a moment of reflection and appreciate how lucky we are in this country to enjoy the peace, fellowship and civility that we can do.
While I was recently away in Europe I was able to ring the World Peace Bells in Berlin and Warsaw. I visited the Peace Bell located within the compound of the United Nations Headquarters in Vienna. I can say that our Peace Bell has the best location, the best-looking pavilion and now the best landscaping and is being rung more often and by more people than any of those three Peace Bells.
Again thank you to Ram Constructions and to Anthony and Simon for your cooperation, dedication and attention to detail for a job well done”.
